Die Bayou Alligators sind eine deutsche Band, die Cajun&Zydeco, Rythm’n’Blues, Rock’n’Roll und Roots-Music spielt.  Hauptsache, sie hat dieses gewisse Louisiana-Feeling!

Die Band formierte sich 2008 aus der Band „The Zydeco Alligators“ heraus. Diese tourten sieben Jahre lang durch Deutschland, Holland, Schweiz, Tschechien und die Slovakei und veröffentlichten 2 CDs. Sie gewannen den Blues Award des Internationalen Bluesfestivals in Dresden (2002) sowie den European Cajun&Zydeco Award (2004). Die Musiker teilten die Konzertbühnen mit international renomierten Künstlern wie John Hammond jr., Popa Chubby, Ana Popovic, Candy Dulfer oder der NDR Bigband. Sie spielten bereits auf Schiffen, unter Tage und in schwindelnden Höhen. Aber darauf kam und kommt es gar nicht an, sondern einzig und allein, dass das Publikum nicht mehr von der Tanzfläche kommt!

Nun sind die Bayou Alligators zurück aus den Sümpfen und haben ein neues Programm aus alten Klassikern und neuen Stücken zusammengestellt. Der Unterschied zu den Zydeco Alligators: Jetzt steht das diatonische Cajun-Akkordeon als Hauptinstrument neben dem charakteristischen Waschbrett im Vordergrund. Dazu wird besonderer Wert auf die Zusammenarbeit mit Gastmusikern gelegt, welche die Musik mit Dobro oder einer weiteren Mundharmonika bereichern. Das Programm der Band umfasst somit eine stilistisch reiche Mischung aus Stücken von Zydeco-Größen wie C.J. Chenier oder Buckwheat Zydeco, als auch vielen eigenen Kompositionen. Man merkt der Band dabei einfach ihre Spielfreude, die pure Energie, aber auch die instrumentale Versiertheit an.

Zydeco ist rythmische, extrem tanzbare Musik der französischsprachigen Creolen in Louisiana mit Wurzeln im Blues. Sie wird auf Akkordeons und Waschbrettern gespielt, meistens begleitet von einer Band. Das Wort Zydeco kommt wohl aus der verballhornten Songtextzeile „Les haricots (Slang: Zarico) sont pas sale“ (The snapbenas aren’t salty).

The Bayou Alligators are a band from Germany that plays Zydeco and Roots-Music as well as Rythm&Blues and Rock’n’Roll tunes with that special Southern Louisiana feel to it.

The band emerged out of a highly succsessful group named „The Zydeco Alligators“, which toured extensively throughout Germany and Europe for seven years and released two CDs. They won the Blues Award of the International Bluesfestival of Dresden (2002) and the European Cajun&Zydeco Award (2004). They shared stages with highly acclaimed artists such as Popa Chubby, Ana Popovic, John Hammond Jr., Gwyn Ashton, Candy Dulfer and The NDR Bigband among others. They played festivals in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Slovakia and the Chechz Republic. They played on ships, on the streets, in caves 100 meters below ground and on mountain tops. Their goal was, still is and will always be entertaining listeners and making people dance!

The band regrouped in 2008, came back out of the „swampy bayous“ and now offers a broader range of styles from Cajun to Nouveau Zydeco and Rock’n’Roll tunes. The change can be heard since the main instrument was switched to the diatonic cajun accordion.  Along with that come collaborations with other instrumentalists such as Dobro-Player Lubos Bena (Slovakia) or harp player Matej Ptaszek from Prague (CZ).

The Bayou Alligators are pleased to present a new program, which, just as before, is characterized by enthusiasm, talent, and above all lively and authentic Zydeco music. In their music, which, apart from their original pieces and arrangements, also includes music by such well-known Zydeco musicians like C.J. Chenier, Geno Delafose, and Chubby Carrier, the Alligators don’t try simply to copy existing works. Zydeco, rhythmic music from the French-speaking Creole culture in southwest Louisiana, that’s fun to dance to, is played on accordions and washboards, and has its roots in Blues and Rhythm & Blues music. The five musicians, all accomplished musicians of German Blues and the Folk Rock scene place more value upon putting their own ideas into practice, as well as fun, which is what this music is all about

By the way,the word Zydeco comes from "Les Haricots" of the song "Les Haricots Sont Pas Sale" which means, "The Snapbeans Aren`t Salty"..

Les Alligators du Bayou sont un groupe allemand de musique Zydeco et de Roots qui joue également du Rythm&Blues et du Rock’n’Roll avec une touche du sud de la Louisiane très particulière.

Le groupe est issu de la formation à succès « Les Alligators Zydeco »  qui donnent des concerts en Allemagne et en Europe depuis 7 ans et ont sorti 2 albums. Après le « Blues Award of tje International Blues Festival of Dresden » en 2002 ils remportent le « European Cajun&Zydeco Award » en 2004. Ils ont partagé la scène avec des artistes très populaires tel que Popa Chubby, Ana Popovic, John Hammond Jr., Gwyn Ashton, Candy Dulfer ou encore The NDR Bigband et ont participé à des festivals en Allemagne, aux Pays-Bas, en Suisse, en Slovaquie et en République Tchèque. Que ce soit sur des bateaux de croisière, dans la rue, dans des grottes situées à 100 mètres sous terre ou au sommet d’une montagne leur objectif est et reste de divertir le public et de faire danser les gens !

En 2008 le groupe a évolué, revenu des « Bayous marécageux » pour offrir aujourd’hui une gamme plus large de styles, allant du Cajun au Nouveau Zydeco en passant par le Rock’n’Roll. L’évolution se remarque au moment du passage à l’accordéon diatonique Cajun. A ajouter à cela la collaboration avec des instrumentalistes tels que le slovaque Dobro-Player Lubos Bena ou encore le Harpiste Tchèque Matej Ptaszek de Prague.

Les Alligators du Bayou sont heureux de présenter leur nouveau programme qui, comme auparavant, se caractérise par l’enthousiasme , le talent et par dessus tout une musique Zydeco vivante et authentique. Dans leur musique, qui intègre des reprises de musiciens Zydeco reconnus comme C.J. Chenier, Geno Delafose ou Chubby Carrier, les Alligators n’essaient pas seulement de reprendre des mélodies existantes mais de mettre en avant leurs compositions et arrangements originaux.

Le Zydeco, musique rythmique née de la culture Créole francophone du sud-ouest de la Louisane,  est une musique très dansante qui se joue sur des accordéons et des planches à laver et qui trouve ses racines dans le Blues et le Rythm&Blues.

Les cinq musiciens, tous joueurs accomplis de Blues Allemand et de Blues, Rock & Folk, mettent un point d’honneur à mettre leurs idées en pratique et à écouter leur plaisir, ce qui est l’essence même de la musique.

Au fait, le mot Zydeco trouve son origine dans les paroles de la chanson « Les haricots sont pas salés »

De Bayou Alligators is een Duitse band. De muziek die ze spelen is, Cajun & Zydeco en Rythm’n’Blues, Rock ‘n’ Roll en Roots. De hoofdzaak is dat deze sound het Louisiana gevoel naar boven brengt.De band is ontstaan in 2008 uit de band “The Zydeco Alligators”. Deze band bracht 2 cd’s uit en toerden 7 jaar door Duitsland, Nederland, Zwitserland, Tsjechië en Slowakije.Ze wonnen in 2002 de Blues Award op het internationaal bluesfestival in Dresden en ook in 2004 de Europese Cajun &  Zydeco Award. Ze deelden  het podium met bekende artiesten zoals John Hammond jr., Popa Chubby, Gwyn Asthon, Ana Popovic, Candy Dulfer en de NDR Bigband. Het belangrijkste echter is dat publiek van de muziek geniet en niet meer van de dansvloer afgaat.Dus uit de sleur en in de dansschoenen aan.De Bayou Alligators zijn nu terug uit de moerassen en hebben een nieuw programma,  uit oude klassiekers en nieuw repertoire samengesteld. Het verschil met de Zydeco Alligators, nu staat het diatonische cajun accordeon als hoofdinstrument naast het karakteristieke wasbord op de voorgrond. Deze band onderscheid zich dat er bijzonder veel waarde aan wordt gehecht om met gastmuzikanten samen te werken, waardoor de muziek met een dobro of nog een mondharmonica wordt uitgebreid.Het programma van de band is zowel een stijlvol en rijke vermenging van muziek stukken van Zydeco grootheden zoals C.J. Chenier of Buckwheat Zydeco, als vele eigen composities.  Je merkt aan de band de grote speelvreugde, de pure energie maar ook de instrumentaal vertrouwde deskundigheid.Zydeco is een ritmische zeer dansbare muziek van de Franssprekende Creolen uit Louisiana met wortels uit de blues. Het wordt op accordeon en wasbord gespeeld meestal begeleid door een band. Het woord Zydeco komt uit de parodie  “Les haricots” ( zeg zarico) ne sont pas sale” ( de bonen zijn nog niet gezouten).
